Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and guidance from the Governor of Montana and other authorities, the Flathead Monster Ultra has been postponed to 2021.
The Flathead Monster Ultra offers new and experienced runners the chance to pursue new goals and distances on the track.
Our 6 and 12 hour events will happen concurrently, with track lanes managed for minimal crowding.
Before the longer events start, we’ll invite our 14 & under crowd to enjoy a special One Hour Kids Race.
Brought to you by an ultrarunning family, the Flathead Monster Ultra was created out of a love for the sport, a desire to invite others to experience this challenging activity, and a need to fund our local unfunded sports programs. The race is intended to be focused first and foremost on raising funds and a positive experience for the participants. All proceeds from the event will go directly to support the unfunded sports: Cross Country, Wrestling, Swimming, Golf, and Soccer.
Welcome to Beautiful Bigfork, Montana!
The race will take place at the Bigfork School District Track – 600 Commerce Street, Bigfork, MT 59911
Home to Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, and only a short drive from the Crown of the Continent, Glacier National Park, Bigfork is a small but engaging community full of artists, entrepreneurs, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Flathead Lake is home to the elusive Flathead Lake Monster…perhaps you’ll catch a glimpse of Flessie on one of your turns around the track?
6 Hour Ultramarathon
Explore the Ultramarathon in 6 hours. A perfect amount of time to achieve your first Marathon, 50K, or just test the waters of this thing called ultrarunning.
12 Hour Ultramarathon
Take your challenge to the next level with a twelve hour race. If you’re working on your first 50K or even 100K, it’s within your reach during these twelve hours on the track.
1 Hour Kids Race
For our younger ultramarathoners, this race is open to all kids 14 and below.
The Flathead Monster Ultra is a fixed-time event on a high school track. Our track does boast some of the best views of mountain peaks and our glacial lake, so you’ll have something to enjoy while you repeat your rounds.
To reduce wear and tear, the course direction will reverse every 3 hours.
Depending on the number of participants on the track at any one time, we may split the races into different lanes, with the distance adjusted accordingly with the timing system.
